vi It is indeed a great pleasure for me to welcome all SEAMEO Centre Directors as well as delegates to the SEAMEO CPRN (Centres Policy Research Network) Summit 2022 (Hybrid). The Covid-19 pandemic has taught us many lessons about science and society. It has touched nearly every aspect of our lives, caused many disruptions and presented serious risks to our health and well-being. At the same time, education, science and technology have proven their critical importance to humankind, from the development of vaccines at unprecedented speed, to the adoption of technology at unparalleled pace. Over past two years have been challenging, but it has also created opportunities for new research and development that will benefit society and humanity. The theme of this Summit could therefore not be more relevant. It is : Steering Together in Southeast Asian Education, Science and Culture Policy Research towards a Greater Future”. This SEAMEO CPRN Summit 2022 details SEAMEO’s ambitions for the pillars of Education, Science and Culture to leverage the holistic development of human resources in the region. The conduct of this SEAMEO CPRN Summit is an important milestone in the development of policy research in the SEAMEO region which strengthens and aligns with the latest development trends and the draft of SEAMEO Strategic Plan 2021-2030. This Summit is a platform to demonstrate the close collaborations among SEAMEO centres and networks, to update trends on policy research, share on-going activities with the other centres, and revisit activities plan agreed in last SEAMEO CPRN Summit (Virtual) in 2021. I would like to thank our invited guests of honour for joining us in this event and to all the speakers and presenters of this Summit. I must also thank Dr. Ethel Agnes Pascua-Valenzuela, Director of SEAMEO Secretariat, for their significant efforts in organising this Summit together. I hope over the next three days you will feel challenged, excited and inspired, but most of all that you will feel welcome to engage in the development of policy research and strengthen the Centres’ collaborations and regional cooperation. I wish everyone an inspiring, thought-provoking, and enlightening experience at this Summit!
