12 Paper Presentation: Session 3 Day 2: 29 March 2022 (Tuesday), 1030 - 1230 | Moderator: Loh Su Ling Paper 7 by SEAMEO TED Exploring Classroom Climate Factors for Technical Education in the SEAMEO Country Region 1 Songheang Ai and 2 Vorn Tim 1&2 SEAMEO TED, Cambodia The classroom climate is an important factor of effective classroom management. Although there are some uncertainties about the cause and effect of classroom management, the relationship established between the classroom climate and many other aspects of academic activities makes the classroom climate a valuable organizing principle for enhancing instruction. A quantitative research method was employed to identify the effective classroom climate factors for technical education in the 11 SEAMEO countries. A cross-sectional survey design was used with principal component analysis (PCA) approach to analyze data from 855 technical education students. Four components were explored namely: Teachers’ Effective Instructional Management (TIM), Student Learning (SL), Students’ Interpersonal Skills (SIS) and Teachers’ Professional Practices (TPR). The linear and multiple regressions were used to test hypotheses. Students’ interpersonal skills such as communication, teamwork, knowledge sharing, and peer learning should be considered for enhancement in the classroom. More professional development programs for teachers can be vested focusing on classroom management techniques, pedagogical and content knowledge. Paper 8 by SEAMEO CECCEP An Initial Study on Children Resilience during a Pandemic Era 1 Ansori, 2 Irfan, 3 Rahmah, 4 Fatima, 5 Safitri, 6 Dhian Gowinda Luh & 7 Ith Vuthy 1,2,3,4&5 SEAMEO CECCEP, Indonesia 6&7 ICANDO The Covid-19 pandemic forced the Indonesian government to issue a policy of school closure temporarily, including early childhood institutions. The early childhood learning process is shifted from studying at school to studying at home. In this given situation, young learners, teachers, and parents are having difficulties and facing challenges in children’s learning process. Furthermore, there is a challenge in implementing learning from home, specifically for those who are not familiar with operating the device and internet as a distance learning tool. Nonetheless, early childhood education and development must not be lost due to the Covid-19 pandemic. In this regard, schools, parents, and policymakers have a fundamental role in ensuring that the teaching and learning activities for early childhood continue at home following the developmental stages and children's needs. Therefore, schools, teachers, parents, and young learners will have the opportunity to be more adaptive in overcoming the problems that arise due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. The main objective of this initial study is to provide an analysis of strategies for empowering children's resilience during the pandemic in Indonesia. This study used a literature review approach to investigate the children's resilience and the government's role in promoting children's resilience, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia.
